In 1868 Thomas Judd (pictured) opened Judd’s Shoes at 262 Rundle Street East, Adelaide. Today his Great, Great, Great Grandsons are still carrying on the family tradition. The Barlows business was purchased in 1961 and has since become our flagship store due to it’s loc ation in the heart of Rundle Mall.

The current Managing Director is Brenton Whittenbury, fifth generation family member, but Gavin and Damien Whittenbury are the sixth generation and next leaders. Seven other family members work in the stores out of a total 38 staff.

We currently have 5 Stores. The one and only Barlows. Judd’s Shoes on Jetty Road Glenelg, and 3 Grundy’s Shoes at Rundle Street Adelaide, Jetty Road Glenelg, and Victor Harbor.

Barlows has a unique place in South Australia’s retail history reaching back to the early colonial days.
